Matthew 26:6, 7
"And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table."
I heard that story many times growing up and always wondered what alabaster looked like. Now, there is probably a bit of variety in the world of alabaster as far as appearance goes, but a few years ago, my mom bought two alabaster lamps. They are presently residing in the "sun room" which used to be the screened-in-porch. The stone is quite beautiful.
