Sabbath Evening

Sabbath evening at the beach!
Thanks to Tunisia for being the photographer.

If we take the time in life and look closely we will see interesting things.

In Sabbath School on Sabbath we looked at the lives of Isaac & Rebekah. We also paralleled their lives to those of Abraham and Sarah and realized that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree in that Isaac & Rebekah repeated many of the same (down to being identical) mistakes as did Abraham and Sarah. A thought that hit my mind Sunday afternoon was that though we as apples don’t fall far from our parent’s trees in that we are made in our parents’ image, God doesn’t want us to stay there. By His grace, He transplants us from the base of our parent’s tree to the base of His tree. He wants to make us into His image. We are the apple of His eye for He values us by the price He paid for us.

Psalms 17:7 Show thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.
17:8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings

This next passage is interesting I think, especially verse 9. God has invested His life into each one of us, we are His “portion”. Jesus was the capital (think monetary investments) that He invested into each one of us. We are valued at the price He paid for us. You know what, no matter what, God is not going to destroy His investment. He is not interested in loosing His investment or of it decreasing in value, it (us) are worth far too much. He wants the investment to grow and He isn’t going to do anything that will not be for the betterment of that investment.

Deuteronomy 32:9 For the LORD'S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.
32:10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.
32:11 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
32:12 So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.
32:13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;
32:14 Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.

Paeter -great photography man. Somebody described that sunset as being a sherbert swirl. :) I appreciate the scriptures also - I heard a message about the verse in Psalms speaking of the "Apple of the eye" - the Hebrew expression that it comes from I am told actually means "the little man of your eye." And it comes from when you are really close to someone you can see a little reflection of yourself in their eye. So the prayer is I want to be so close to you that I am a litle you.
