The title is taken from the book "The Secret Garden". There are at least two movies by that name of which I'd recommend the Hallmark version. Anyway, since I am moving, I didn't plant a garden though I did empty out my compost bins (see earlier post) and put compost on my garden. Low and behold, the weeds loved the compost and shot up. The past couple weeks I have noticed I am developing a jungle out there so this afternoon I have been pulling weeds. The line "where you tend a rose, a thistle cannot grow" is certainly true. I have found two thistles so far but pulled them up before the idea of a post hit me. If I had been carefully tending the garden, these weeds would never have had a chance, they would never have gotten such deep roots or become so pervasive. Anyway, tis like life. Bad habits, sin, faults, thoughts are like thistles and are easy to deal with early on but much more effort is required later on. By being careful to tend one's own garden, it is much easier to keep thistles out.
The situation at the time of the photo shoot. However, the back row has been completed at the time of this post.
These are the weeds from one bed!
I struck gold! Unfortunately no, but I did open up an ants nest which was quite interesting. There were eggs eveywhere and the ants were frantically trying to retrieve them.
Some eggs resting peacfully.
The corridors are amazing!
RED ANTS!
A fly observing all the excitement.
I started to look for a thistle for this post but didn't find anymore, I guess two was my limit. However, I found a pepper plant and...

two tomato plants! They must have sprouted from seeds from last year's garden.
